After trying 50 different times with various settings in the benchmark with no tangible difference each and every time (except when I really pushed the settings too high), I finally said F*** it and changed the full damn profile to Low (the lowest possible setting with everything disabled) and restarted the game. I ran the benchmark many, many times with many, many different settings and no matter what I did, I couldn't get a measurable difference from one test to the next, except when I put the settings stupidly high (4K Ultra ~20fps lol).
#Currwnt most cpu intensive game 2016 720p#
I would argue that it's too high and after the testing I've done, I don't currently see how someone with an i3 processor is going to be able to run this reliably at 720p on the Low preset like the minimum specifications suggest. Comes in handy for things like this.) that the CPU useage at some points in game, but also especially in the benchmark is exceedingly high. I also noticed (note: I have an LCD screen on my keyboard that gives me constant readouts of my CPU and memory useage. No matter what settings I changed I got the exact same measured result every time. What I found is the built in benchmark utility is completely and utterly useless. I was going to see (hopefully quickly and recreatably) what settings I could further tweak to get the best bang for buck performance to quality wise. Today when I was testing, I found the benchmark utility (didn't know it was there until today) and started using that. I managed to get really decent performance with minor occasional hiccups at 2K Ultra with Contact Hardening Shadows set down one level to ON. But because I didn't know there was a benchmark in the extras section, I did my first settings pass in game on the first level area. The other day when I got this game I did the usual setting it up for the first time tweaking graphics settings to get the best performance possible at the highest possible quality settings.

This is an observational post of what I've observed while testing DXMD's graphics settings/performance.
